GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps. Draw a square which will act as the frame of the hippo portrait.
GRID STEP. Outline the general shape of the head, the mouth and the upper body of the hippo. Sketch the eyes.
GRID STEP. Draw the ears and hippo fangs. Erase redundant lines of the mouth.
GRID STEP. Add nostrils. Detail the mouth and the eyes.
GRID STEP. Work on the whole figure of the hippo, adding more details to the eyes, the ears and the mouth.
GRID STEP. Add whiskers above the upper lip.
GRID STEP. Color the eyes and the nostrils. Erase all guidelines.
