How to draw a  Blue Jay from Animals
step-1
GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.

GRID STEP. Mark off the width and height of the blue jay. Sketch with light lines the general shape of a branch. Draw an oval, which will become a head. Draw a line, which will act as the center of it.

GRID STEP. Outline an oval for the body and mark its center with a line.

GRID STEP. Draw guidelines for blue jay’s legs. Define the proportions of the head.

GRID STEP. Sketch shapes for the legs, a beak and a tail.

GRID STEP. With light lines, add toes and a wing of the blue jay. Draw some additional lines to show the shape of the tail.

GRID STEP. Define the place for the eyes. Draw a crest. Outline the beak and the wing.
step-8
GRID STEP. Work further on the figure, making it more detailed.
step-9
GRID STEP. Contour, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Draw more details and a branch. Erase all guidelines.
